Tabjab allows you to create "tabs," which are bills that you send to
people who owe you money. Once you've created an account on Tabjab,
you send out a bill by clicking on "new tab" in the menu. The first
step is to enter the email addresses for the people you are billing.
One tab can be sent to multiple people, and they do not have to have
Tabjab accounts. Then you enter the line items that make up the tab.
For example, if you were billing your roommates for monthly
utilities, you might have a separate line item for the phone bill and
the electric bill. Each line item can be split up between all of the
people who are being billed, or it can be directed at specific
people. This is helpful when splitting up restaurant checks, for
example; you can enter each item on the check, how much it cost, and
select the person who ordered it.
When you submit your new tab, Tabjab automatically totals up the
amount that each person owes, and sends them each an email about it.
These emails contain enough information for recipients to know how
much they owe you. However, if they create Tabjab accounts they can
also view the status of their bills online and indicate when they've
paid them. Tabjab will keep track of these debts and send out
reminder emails if they don't get paid on time. It is also possible to
create "recurring tabs" that Tabjab will automatically generate on a
regular basis. This is useful for things like rent that are due every
month.
When you login to Tabjab you are taken to a home page that shows you
all of the debts that people owe you, and all of the debts that you
owe other people in the system. Often, situations arise where you may
bill a friend for an expense and he or she may also bill you for a
different expense. For example, you may go out to dinner with one of
your roommates and he or she might pick up the tab and bill you for
your portion, but that roommate might already owe you rent for that
month. Tabjab automatically reconciles all of these debts and
displays the total amount of debt between you and each person in
system on the right hand side of the home page. This makes it easy to
settle up with your friends and roommates without having to remember
all of the individual expenses that you've shared.
These features combine to create a powerful system for keeping track
of the interpersonal debts that arise between friends, roommates, and
coworkers. Tabjab is easy to use, fun, and a real time saver. What's
more, using Tabjab to track expenses is absolutely free! Click here
